Our building is currently under construction, as is our website. We are opening on 2nd April 2024, so please pop in to see how we can help you to fuel, focus and connect for yourself.

Welcome

A warm and very sunny welcome to our second newsletter! A week of sunshine has meant iced drinks, smoothies and frappes have been extremely popular – we couldn't buy ice fast enough! Despite the heat, The Hub and Spoke has remained a place of cool, relaxed vibes, allowing everyone to settle in and focus. The team has been busy preparing for the new menu launch on Monday the 23rd! More info (and an exclusive offer) is included below.

Café News

Our biggest and most exciting piece of news is the launch of our new menu. After a week of creating and testing new dishes, we're thrilled to share them with you. A new staff favourite is the Maple Sriracha Tofu on sourdough with ginger, pickled red onions, coriander and pomegranate seeds – it tastes even better than it sounds! A firm and everlasting favourite from the breakfast menu remains the breakfast burrito – perhaps it's simply an unbeatable classic.

Alongside our new weekday menu, we're launching a Saturday-exclusive brunch menu. This will include some classics like Eggs Benedict, plus some of our exciting new flavours that are also featured in our main menu. Devi and Ffion have been busy baking – it's never too hot for cake! Our three glutenfree sweet options are Lemon & Blueberry, Banana Bread and Protein Balls.

Productivity

As temperatures rise, it can be challenging to stay focused and maintain your usual productivity levels. A trip to The Hub and Spoke's hot desks – taking advantage of our Summer Hot Desk Offer – is the perfect first step to getting productive again. Our upcoming quarterly leadership meeting has had us researching productivity hacks to make the most of our work time. To help you maximise your time at The Hub and Spoke, here are some key takeaways and productivity hacks that we actually use ourselves:

1. Switch Up Your Environment

We're extremely fortunate to have multiple work locations at The Hub and Spoke. Our hot desks upstairs provide focused work space – being in a dedicated 'focus zone' helps our brains get in the zone. Downstairs in the café, you can enjoy a more relaxed vibe that still fosters productivity. Being surrounded by people working and chatting helps motivate us through social proof theory – seeing others work instantly makes us follow suit.

For a more formal environment where professional image matters – whether for face-to-face meetings or calls – our meeting rooms are comfortable, professional, and perfect when you want to position yourself as an expert or leader to clients. All of these environments are at your disposal. Working from home doesn't have to be repetitive. Switching it up just one or two days a week can leave your home office feeling fresher while letting you take advantage of The Hub and Spoke's features!

2. The Blitzit App

This app is essentially a productivity scoreboard. You can input your overarching projects and the tasks within them, assign tasks for the whole week, then move them to your day planner, set realistic timeframes and hit go. The app appears on the side of your screen with a timer – you can pause anytime if you get a call and schedule breaks. If you're naturally competitive or respond well to gamified tasks, this app is for you. It's free to use with a premium upgrade option – definitely worth trying!

3. Clarity

Clarity is the ultimate productivity hack. It isn't about doing more or having more time; it's about doing what matters. To drive key results, identify the following:
Purpose – Know why you're doing it
Priorities – Focus on what moves the needle
Execution – Break it down into actionable steps
Boundaries – Protect your time
Communication – Be clear and concise
This simple method can make a big difference in getting things done and feeling good about it. When you're clear on your purpose, it's easier to stay motivated and remember why you started. Setting priorities helps you focus on what actually matters, rather than getting lost in busywork.

With a clear execution plan, big goals feel less overwhelming and more achievable. Creating boundaries means protecting your time and energy – you can't pour from an empty cup. Strong communication keeps everyone aligned, avoiding confusion and wasted effort. By putting these into practice, you'll work with more clarity, less stress, and make real progress towards what matters most.
